As an owner of Port Ashton Lodge, what are your primary responsibilities?

I'm involved in the marketing of Port Ashton, including blog posts and outreach activities. I work with Lia, the lodge manager, taking care of guest needs and business tasks. I'm also responsible for the chickens - and keeping them alive through the winter so we have plenty of fresh eggs on the island in the summer.

 

What do you enjoy most about Port Ashton?

The solitude. The water. The berries. The endless sunrises and sunsets. It has been a gift to share all of this with my kids as they've grown up and my husband, Russ.

 

Where did you grow up? What are your hobbies?

I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska. After starting a family, I lived on the island of Kauai and was in the family restaurant business for 22 years. When I'm  not working I love gardening, and knitting. And did I mention the chickens?
