WHAT TO EXPECT

Located at the historic Port Ashton Packing Company site, Port Ashton Lodge is a truly amazing and authentic Alaskan experience. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the dock and all your baggage will be transported to your cabins by four-wheeler and trailer. Then, you will have a short, guided tour of the property as we walk you to your cabins. We'll review bear safety with you and explain how things work in the cabins. After the short introduction, you're free to enjoy the property at your leisure. Check out what activities you can do on property here. 

Creekside Cabin Port Ashton Lodge

CREEKSIDE LODGE

If you have any questions while you're at the lodge, you can visit the main Creekside cabin (the owners' lodging) to ask away.

 

If you're interested in history, there is a collection of old, glass soda bottles and photos from the old cannery days in the main cabin, as well as an old newspaper from 1918. We would be happy to tell you about it.

This is also where you can buy souvenirs and merchandise with the PAL logo. 

TRAVEL INFO

  • The temperatures in summer range from 45º-75º F

  • Port Ashton does not have an ice machine

  • If you have a local AT&T SIM card, your phone might have cell service

  • Fishing licenses are available for purchase at the lodge

  • The atmosphere at the lodge is casual

  • Bring clothes that will allow you to dress in layers will keep you comfortable.

SUGGESTED PACKING LIST

  • Rain jacket

  • Rain pants

  • Warm sweaters or sweatshirts

  • Long sleeve shirts

  • Thermal underwear (for the cool days)

  • Rain boots

  • Comfortable walking shoes/slippers to explore the property and visit the hot tub

  • Swimsuit for the hot tub 

  • Camera and binoculars

  • Mosquito repellent 

  • Personal toiletries

  • Sunglasses/baseball cap

  • Sleeping mask (because of those long daylight hours in the Land of the Midnight Sun)

WHAT TO LEAVE BEHIND

While Port Ashton has many modern conveniences, we are off the road system and off the grid. This means we are very energy conscious and efficient - we don't have microwaves or even electric coffee pots (we make great coffee the old-fashioned way in perkpots!)

 

This means appliances like curling irons, hair dryers and other similar electric appliances can be left behind or should not be used while you are here. If you have a question about medical equipment or other electronic items, please call.

Pets are best left behind also, as Port Ashton has a no-pets policy for safety and other reasons.

SO MUCH MORE THAN A PLACE TO SLEEP DURING A FISHING CHARTER!

"....After dinner, we all enjoyed the bonfire and the midnight sun. It was a magical evening and everyone went to the comfortable beds full and happy. We all slept well and were ready for another days fishing, but not wanting to leave the wonderful lodge. We all decided we should come back again soon! It should be noted, you must bring your own wine or beer if you would like to have an alcoholic beverage at the lodge. Last but not least, the value of staying at the lodge is vastly in excess of what you pay, they really make it a great experience!"
